Hello cyber world! Matt here, weighing in with my first blog post in the history of the interwebs. I know these family blog things are typically a female activity, but the blog is RaShae AND Matthew after all, so I figured it only fair that I contribute every now and again. Actually, Shae has no idea I’m on here, and if she did, she would probably yank the computer out of my hands as quickly as possible figuring I was up to no good.
Which is why I am covertly crashing her blog to wish a Happy Mother’s day to all mothers everywhere, especially my own selfless mother and sweet mother-in-law. Equally as important, however, I want to thank the greatest future-mother I know: my wife. One of the best things I’ll ever do for my children, I already did, on August 28, 2009 when I married RaShae. I’ll be sure to remind them of it too. When our munchkins are trying to convince me that I owe them a third annual trip to Disneyland, I’ll just say, “Whoa, whoa, whoa, you guys are the ones that owe ME. I found your mom, and then I somehow convinced her to marry me. How awesome is she! You guys are going to be cleaning your rooms for the rest of your lives to pay me back for that one.” That’ll be my trump card. There’s no way they will be able to refute that. They’ll have such a wonderful mother that they’ll have no choice but to thank me for snagging her for them.
Unfortunately, I really can’t take any of the credit. Shae has been maternal from the womb, if that’s even possible. I think she was carrying around a baby doll before she could walk herself. And after she graduated from dolls, she continued to make the kind of choices and live the kind of life that will bless our children for years to come. Truth be told, I married her for myself; my kids will just be a major benefactor of my selfishness. Her stunning beauty caught my attention, but it was her tenderness, her selflessness, and her dedication to family that sealed the deal for me. These along with all of her other Christ-like qualities continue to be a blessing to me, and I know they will be a major blessing in the lives of our children.
Happy future-mother’s day RaShae. I am so grateful for these two years that I’ve had you all to myself! But I also look forward sharing you with our children, and to the decades to come where we wake you up at the break of dawn with burnt pancakes and sub-par scrambled eggs in bed on this special day. Love, Me.

ReplyDeleteWhat a nice hubby you have, that was so sweet! Hope things are going well and I love you RaShae!
ReplyDeleteRaShae, I just realized I never responded to your comment on my mother's day post. I am sure you can relate, and I was thinking about you on mother's day. I hope things are going well for you guys right now -- and I wish I was able to talk to you more than just passing in the hall in between primary!
