Bye Bye Bambi

Since it's deer hunting season and all I thought it was only appropriate to blog about the good old days huntin' with my dad and brothers. I have been hunting with my dad since I was just two months old. I was born and raised a hunter. Haha, not really. I have a lot of fond memories hunting but there are a few that still make my gut hurt from laughter. Hunting is where I grew to love horses, how come I despise the cold, its the reason for my love of wildlife and nature, why I can appreciate good beef jerky, why I can't stand mosquito's and, last why I can smile every time I see a redneck. Hunting was a really fun tradition growing up, but probably won't be one we do with our family. Matt isn't a big hunter. My brother asked Matt go with him rabbit hunting last winter and Matt told me before he left he was only going to shoot one and that he didn't even want to shoot it. We differ there. My dad always told me that he had going to make a hunter and a cowboy out of my boys. Yikes. Not so sure about that. This is rabbit hunting when I wanted to be like my brothers and take my shirt off with them. eeek!My dad shot this Elk and it hung in our house. I named him Luke.
My dad isn't able to shoot a gun all that well anymore because of his accident but he will always be the worlds best hunter in my mind and the greatest dad that taught me how to be a redneck!
